FAQs

For first-time parents, it can be a confusing process when it comes to deciding what baby gear is necessary and what isn’t. As a general rule of thumb, for newborns, only essentials like a crib, blankets, and bibs are needed. Within the first few months, you will need to invest in a good car seat, baby hip carrier, high-chair and baby dishware (including pacifiers).

Baby gear and equipment includes items that are needed for the daily care of your child. It can include cribs, strollers, high-chairs, dishware, baby carriers, and play mats.

Your baby’s safety is paramount, and while innovative baby products may seem excessive, they are better quality, provide better safety, ergonomics and functionality for both you and your baby. They have better longevity, which makes them a more sustainable option as they can be passed onto siblings, other family members or friends once your child has outgrown them.

When you are planning to buy baby gear, you should consider its safety aspects first. Look for gear that has passed ASTM International or another equivalent standardized testing. Consider the following aspects before you make a purchase:

  • Ergonomics and functionality
  • Durability and versatility
  • Materials used
  • Adaptability
  • If replacement parts are available
  • Warranty

As long as you are buying a baby hip carrier that has passed through rigorous testing, it should be completely safe for your child. A good baby hip carrier should support your baby while carrying them, and you should ensure that you know how to use it properly before using it with your baby.

When your baby starts sitting up by themselves and can start eating semi-solid food, it is usually a good time to introduce them to a high chair. This can happen around the 6-month mark, although every baby is different and you will need to see their progress for yourself.

For essentials like a crib and bibs, it is ideal to start buying baby gear in the second trimester. For other gear that will be used later, such as a high-chair and bibs, you can consider buying them once your baby is around 2 to 3 months old.

FIND NEW HIGH CHAIR TRAY HARDWARE

The Beyond Junior® Y High Chair comes with a dishwasher-safe tray that can be removed and washed. You’ll enjoy the convenience of having more than one tray so that one can stay in the wash while one is being used to eat. This is also great if you have more than one kid!

REPLACEMENT CHAIR CUSHIONS

Having more than one wooden high chair cushion set is also great for cleaning purposes — or simply if your crafty child has managed to destroy one. You can find multiple colors, which is also fun if you’re alternating high chair use with different kids.
